Serial Xtractor™
On the machine, whoever made it
In build with partnersSerial capture at the point of destruction, so the record is made by the machine doing the work rather than by someone standing next to it. The drive is scanned at the shredder, not at a bench beforehand. We supply the unit. You mount it however your hard drive or SSD shredder needs.

We are building this now, with equipment manufacturers, and what early partners need is still shaping it. If you build shredders or run them, we would like to hear how yours are set up.
The gap it closes
On most floors the serial is recorded at a bench and the device is destroyed somewhere else, minutes or hours later. That gap is where the chain of custody gets thin — the record says a drive was destroyed, but what it actually evidences is that a drive was scanned and then carried away.
- Scanning at the shredder makes the scan and the destruction one event.
- Nothing is added to the operator's job.
- The record is written by the equipment, not reconstructed afterwards.
It fits whatever you already own
Capture that only works on one manufacturer of machine forces you to buy that machine or go without.
- Fits any make of shredder, whoever built it and whenever you bought it.
- Built in at the design stage on a new machine, or retrofitted to one already on your floor — the same integrated serial scanner either way.
- Retrofits to machines already on your floor. No need to replace one.
- One record and one certificate across every machine you run.
- No tie to a single equipment supplier, now or at your next purchase.
What you get, and what you build
We supply the unit that does the work — the camera and the computing that reads the label, identifies the serial and writes the record. We do not supply a mount. Where it sits on your machine, at what distance and angle, how it is powered and how it is protected from the environment is yours to build.
- Supplied — the capture unit and the software that runs on it.
- Not supplied — bracket, enclosure, mounting hardware, power routing.
- For a manufacturer this is a design detail at the drawing stage.
- For an operator it is a fabrication job. Scope it before you buy.
Why we do it that way
A mount is the part that ties a capture system to one machine. Design a bracket around a specific frame and you have built something that fits that frame and nothing else. Leaving the mount to you is what lets the same unit go onto any shredder on your floor, and onto the next one you buy from someone else. It costs you a bracket and buys you the freedom to use it anywhere.
The same model, whichever deployment you run
The deployment decides where the record gets made. What reads the label is the same model in every one of them, and this is how it performs.
For manufacturers and operators both
If you build destruction equipment and want an integrated scanner in your next model, we want to talk to you. If you run machines and are willing to fabricate a bracket, get in touch. It is in development and early partners are still shaping what it becomes.
Other deployments
Every deployment runs the same workflow and produces the same record. How Serial Xtractor works
